Australia’s first High-G Centrifuge Simulator

The Institute for Intelligent Research and Innovation (IISRI) at Deakin University, with support from CTD project funding from the Defence Innovation Hub and the RAAF, has designed and developed Australia’s first High-G Centrifuge Simulator, capable of generating acceleration at rates at the level of modern fighter aircraft such as the F-35.

The Deakin centrifuge represents a low cost, modular design, built to approved Australian standards, and with a highly capable and reliable commercial rotating main drive. The simulator has been entirely designed and analysed by IISRI’s experts at Deakin University and has been verified by external structural engineers as per Australian standards.

The next phase of the centrifuge development is the installation of an immersive simulated environment to support the high levels of fidelity required for effective training and trials for the aircrew of 5th Generation fighter aircraft, as well as supporting applications related to the growing Space industry.
